It’s a good idea to have your dentures and mouth checked every year. As part of this appointment, the dentures can be professionally cleaned, an oral cancer exam can be completed, and any sore spots can be adjusted.
When comparing bridges and dentures, the main difference is whether they can be removed easily from your mouth. Dentures and partial dentures often replace multiple missing teeth and are considered removable appliances. A bridge is used to fill in one or two spaces utilizing at least one anchor tooth on each side of the gap. In order to make a bridge, the anchor teeth must be shaped (reduced in size- like for a crown). The final bridge is then permanently cemented and looks and feels like your natural teeth.

Full or complete dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures use existing teeth to anchor prosthetic teeth in place. Both dentures and partials should be removed daily.
