On Friday, July 21, 2017, Dr. Joe Santelli hosted the 7th Annual Golf Outing at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston. It's a free golf event for friends of Dr. Santelli and open to patients of our practice. We had a record 60 golfers this year due to increased demand. The weather was perfect once again, 90 degrees and sunny. The BBQ was held indoors this year due to the heat.
The tournament is just for fun and the "best ball" format reflects that goal. Each foursome is a team. Every player tees off and the team chooses the best drive of the four. Then each player will hit a shot from the location of that best drive. Again, the best shot is chosen and each player hits from that spot and so on until the ball is in the hole. There are also a few individual competitions throughout the course and winners are rewarded a cash prize. Each player contributed $5. This year, the winners were:
Martin Mason- longest drive- 281 yards
Bob DiRamio- closest to the center of the fairway- right on the line at 255 yards
Mike Scolamiero- closest to the pin- 4 feet 1 inch
On the par 3 5th hole, there was a chance to win a brand new car with a hole-in-one. Larry Bray came within 4 inches of winning the car this year. Maybe next year...
The winning team shot a 63 (-9): Geoff Wilkinson, Bob DiRamio, Jim Bradford and Dan Bradford. Their prize... bragging rights until next year.
A big thanks to all those golfers who participated, Diane Hunt (who served as the witness on the 5th hole for the Hole-in-One contest), and of course our host, Dr. Joe Santelli for a wonderful event. See you all next year.
